About the role
Build software that helps space mission teams turn data from different systems into an operational picture they can use. This senior engineering role supports Space Command and Control (Space C2), working with government and technical stakeholders across architecture, implementation, deployment, and sustainment.
Palantir Foundry is a central part of the work. You will use its data, ontology, and application capabilities to connect mission information, build useful workflows, and support interoperability across space, air, ground, and cyber environments. You will collaborate with product owners, engineers, users, program managers, and partner organizations to deliver capabilities in secure mission environments.
What you’ll do
- Build with Palantir Foundry. Develop mission applications and data workflows using tools such as the Ontology SDK, Foundry Transforms, Code Workbooks, and Pipeline Builder, including AI and machine-learning integrations where appropriate.
- Integrate mission data. Design pipelines that bring together sensor, intelligence, and command-and-control information. Apply data modeling, messaging patterns, APIs, and technologies such as Kafka or AMQP to support interoperability.
- Develop modular architectures. Apply Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) principles so capabilities can be integrated, extended, and maintained across mission domains.
- Deliver through Agile and DevSecOps. Work with engineering and product teams to release incremental capabilities. Support secure deployment practices and delivery tooling such as ArgoCD.
- Support operational software. Contribute across requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment. Improve and modernize applications as mission needs change.
- Document the engineering. Maintain useful descriptions of interfaces, workflows, integration approaches, and technical decisions. Contribute to operational concepts and requirements so implementation remains connected to the mission.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, management information systems, information systems, or a related discipline with 14 years of experience; a master’s with 12 years; or a PhD/JD with nine years.
- At least six years supporting software engineering, systems integration, platform implementation, or application development in defense, intelligence, or other complex mission environments.
- Experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, or comparable platforms for data integration and operational decision support.
- Experience developing, configuring, or integrating applications, data workflows, and interfaces across systems.
- Practical experience with the software lifecycle, Agile delivery, data pipelines, APIs, data modeling, and workflow automation.
Preferred qualifications
- Foundry or Gotham implementation in operational defense, intelligence, or mission-command environments.
- Depth in ontologies, object relationships, operational application configuration, and user workflows.
- Experience connecting command-and-control, intelligence, readiness, or space domain awareness data.
- Experience with software accepted for operational use by Space Force, Space Systems Command, or other defense mission organizations.
- Familiarity with cloud architectures, secure DevSecOps, platform engineering, and hybrid cloud delivery.
The work we’d like to hear about
Bring an example of a platform or application you helped deliver into use. Explain the data sources, the integration challenge, your own implementation work, and what the user could do once the capability was available. Experience connecting architecture decisions to deployment and sustainment is especially relevant.
Clearance, location, and compensation
An active Top Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI and Special Access Program access and willingness to consent to a polygraph. Confirm the program’s access requirements with the recruiter.
